About Waypoint Aviation

Waypoint Aviation was created to provide a more personalized, supportive, and accessible path into aviation. Built on the belief that every pilot’s journey is unique, our mission is to guide students with intention, structure, and confidence from their very first lesson to reaching their long-term goals.

Founded by a Certified Flight Instructor who understands the realities of balancing life, finances, and training, Waypoint Aviation is rooted in real experience. The path to becoming a pilot isn’t always straightforward, and having the right guidance can make all the difference. Here, students receive more than just flight instruction—they gain mentorship, clarity, and a roadmap for success.

We offer training for Private, Instrument, and Commercial ratings, along with flight reviews and instrument proficiency checks. Every lesson is tailored to the individual, focusing not only on passing a checkride, but on building safe, confident, and capable pilots.

At Waypoint Aviation, we believe aviation should feel attainable. Whether you are just starting out or continuing your training, you’ll be supported every step of the way with clear communication, structured progression, and a commitment to your success.

Meet the Instructor

I’m Miranda Hinojosa, a Certified Flight Instructor, commercial pilot, and proud mother dedicated to helping others find their path in aviation. My journey into this industry wasn’t traditional or easy, but it’s what shaped the way I teach and mentor today.

I began flight training in 2022 and went on to earn my Private, Instrument, and Commercial certificates in an accelerated timeline while balancing full-time responsibilities and motherhood. Along the way, I faced financial challenges and delays with my medical certification, which tested my resilience and forced me to stay disciplined, resourceful, and committed to my goals. Those experiences gave me a deep understanding of what many aspiring pilots go through, especially those who may not see a clear or accessible path into aviation.

As a former K-12 educator, I bring an adaptable classroom perspective into every lesson. Today, as a Certified Flight Instructor I don’t just focus on helping students pass a checkride—I focus on building confident, capable, and safety-minded pilots who understand the “why” behind what they’re doing. I take a personalized approach to instruction, meeting each student where they are and creating a structured plan that supports their learning style and long-term goals.

Beyond instruction, I’m deeply passionate about mentorship and outreach. I actively support and guide students, aspiring pilots, and members of my community—especially women and underrepresented groups—who are looking to break into aviation. I know firsthand how powerful it is to have someone in your corner, and I strive to be that support for others.

Waypoint Aviation is an extension of that mission. It’s not just about flight training—it’s about providing clarity, structure, and encouragement so that anyone with the drive to pursue aviation feels confident taking that first step and continuing forward.
